Working Mechanism

  • The digital signal processor / microprocessor in these VSDs communicates with the user and PLC to oversee the motor operation and detect faults.
  • The control circuitry then coordinates the switching of power devices and activates the power components.
  • The motor speed changes by varying the voltage & frequency supplied.
  • These VFDs thus maintain motor torque by maintaining the volts-to-frequency ratio constant.

Features

  • These variable speed drives have an ambient air temperature of 50 degrees C complying with IP20 standards and NEMA 0-rated open enclosure for enhanced protection.
  • They feature plug-in modules that can expand the number of relay inputs / outputs.
  • They are equipped with a PI controller to eliminate long-term errors in the system.
  • These drives further feature V/F controls to boost the voltage of the unit.
  • They have a 7-digit, 7-segment display with integrated CANopen and Modbus RTU communication systems enabling easy digital readout for the user.

Standards and Approvals

  • CE
  • RoHS
  • C-Tick

Frequently Asked Questions

How to activate the real time clock battery in Eaton VSC Series III variable speed drives?

Remove the primary drive cover, find the RTC battery underneath the keypad and attach the white 2-wire connector to the control board's receptacle.

Why do the minimum & maximum speed values in these variable speed drives sometimes display RPM instead of Hz?

  • The minimum frequency parameter P-02 and maximum frequency P-01 will be displayed in RPM if a value greater than 0 enters into the parameter P-10.
  • Changing the value at P-10 to the RPM of the motor allows the operating monitor screen to display the RPM value while running.
  • Set the P-10 before setting up P-01 / P-02.

What is the voltage rating of Eaton VSC Series III variable speed drives?

480V
