Working Mechanism

On-Delay Timing Relays:

  • When the input voltage is applied, the timing circuit gets activated, and the timer starts counting down from the set delay time. Once the timer has completed its countdown, the control circuit energises the relay coil, which switches the contacts to their closed position, allowing the circuit to be powered.

Off-Delay Timing Relays:

  • When the input voltage is removed, the timing circuit gets activated, and the timer starts counting down from the set delay time. Once the timer has completed its countdown, the control circuit de-energises the relay coil, which then switches the contacts to their open position, disconnecting the circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an on-delay and off-delay timing relay?

An on-delay timing relay delays the activation of a circuit, while an off-delay timing relay delays the deactivation of a circuit.

How can I prevent timing relay failures?

Preventing timing relay failures involves regular maintenance & inspection, ensuring proper installation & wiring and selecting the correct relay for the application.

How to ensure safety while working with timing relays?

When working with timing relays, follow proper electrical safety procedures like disconnecting power before making any changes or adjustments, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following manufacturer instructions & guidelines.
