Double End Threaded Studs

Double-end threaded studs or rods have threading on both ends and an unthreaded portion at the centre. They are used as connecting rods to join threaded components with different thread sizes in construction, plumbing, metal fabrication and repair applications. Raptor Supplies offers double-end threaded rods from brands like Grainger and Te-Co. Double-end threaded studs can also be bent to act as specialised fasteners like anchor bolts or U-bolts.

Features

Double-end threaded studs have threads on both sides to resist loosening due to vibration and to attach a nut.
They can be installed in a tapped hole with a nut or washer on the other end for clamping a fixture onto the surface.
Double-end threaded studs are generally stronger than a standard bolt for fastening applications.
They have an unthreaded middle section for gripping & adjusting the connection.
They can be used to connect parts having coarse threads to other parts having fine threads or parts with right-hand direction threads to parts with left-hand direction threads.
Selected models have a hex drive for ease of installation and an unthreaded tip for threading into nuts easily, thereby preventing damage to the threads.

TE-CO Double-End Threaded Studs

These double-end threaded studs are available in Imperial & Metric threads with Class 2A thread fit.
Most of these threaded rods have a round shank, but some have a square shank for secure holding during installation.
They have steel (with black oxide finish) or stainless steel construction.
These studs can have equal or unequal threaded lengths on both sides of the shank for use in specific applications.

Working Mechanism

To use a double end threaded stud, first, join the surfaces prepared by drilling holes to match the diameter of the stud.
Insert the stud through the holes with the threaded ends protruding from each side.
Thread the nuts onto both ends of the stud and then tighten evenly with a wrench or socket.
The pressure (applied by the nuts) squeezes the surfaces together, creating a tight and secure joint.
