We are closed from Monday, Dec 23rd and will reopen on Monday, Jan 6th. Any orders received during this time will be processed in the New Year.

LEESON Carbonator Pump Motors, Split Phase, Dripproof

Marathon carbonator pump AC motors are designed to power vending machine pumps, fluid transfer pumps and other hub-mounted pump applications. These 1-phase units with a low starting torque (for soft startup) allow pumps to gradually come up to speed after being initiated.

Working Mechanism

  • The AC motors consist of a wire coil and two fixed magnets surrounding a shaft.
  • Electromagnet occurs when an electric (AC) charge applies to the wire coil, generating a magnetic field.
  • Inside the stator, there is a loop of wire, a solid metal axle, a squirrel cage made of metal bars, a coil and other freely rotating metal parts that can conduct electricity.
  • Power is sent to the outer coils to make up the stator.
  • The coils are then energised to produce a magnetic field that rotates around the outside of the motor.

Features

  • Marathon carbonator pump AC motors are configured with an extended hub, allowing the motor to mount directly to the pump.
  • These units have a temperature sensing device to protect the motors against overheating, thus ensuring prolonged life.
  • They feature an open dripproof enclosure having ventilation openings in the ends hields.
  • These ventilated openings are shell positioned so that liquid drops falling within 15 degrees from vertical do not hamper motor performance.
  • The permanently lubricated, ball or sleeve bearings are mechanically locked on the shaft end to reduce motor friction.
  • These models with clockwise or counterclockwise rotational shafts deliver speeds up to 1725 rpm.
  • They are available in the cradle and rigid bases for easy mounting.
  • These products come with an automatic reset thermal protector to prevent overloads.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 1, 2 and 3-phase motors?

  • 1-phase motor:Current flows through a single conductor.
  • 2-phase motor: Current flows through 4-wire conductors (2 for each phase).
  • 3-phase motor: Current flows through 3 separate conductors.

What is the maximum operating temperature of these Marathon motors?

They can operate at temperatures up to 40 degrees C.

What is the difference between an AC motor and DC motor?

Electric motors that are powered by an alternating current are known as AC motors (AC). DC motors are rotatory electric motors that use direct current (DC) to create mechanical energy.
