DORIAN Boring Bar 1 Inch

Dorian boring bars are single-pointed cutting tools that use various inserts to size, straighten and finish the inside of drilled or cast holes. They can be easily mounted to a lathe or turning machine and remain stationary while the machine rotates the workpiece against the cutting tip.

Features

  • They utilise inserts with multiple cutting edges so that they can be rotated (indexed) to expose a fresh cutting edge when the old one gets dull.
  • The Insert is held more securely with the Torx screw to reduce tool slipping.
  • They are made of heat-treated, precision ground alloy steel for rigidity, high tensile strength and corrosion resistance.
  • These boring bars offer advanced position chip clearance for maximum boring capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a D clamp?

The D-clamp helps to strongly hold the insert in a boring bar for making accurate cuts.

What is Jet-Stream coolant?

Jet-Stream coolant is directed onto the insert chip interface to dissipate the generated heat and also lubricate the cutting edge of the insert, causing the chips to hydroplane over the insert surface instead of sticking to it.

What is the advantage of a negative rake?

Negative rake refers to the shape of the cutting angle of the carbide. When the face of the cutting tool slopes away from the cutting edge at an optimal angle, a negative rake angle takes place. Negative rake boring bars are safer, smoother and make more continuous cuts in very hard materials.
