Square Standoffs

Square standoffs are suitable for separating / elevating components above other components in electronic circuit boards, panels & doors being assembled. This prevents them from coming in contact and causing short-circuiting. These female-female square standoffs accept male threaded components like screws & bolts inside both ends. They feature a square profile with a smooth outer surface for areas that can be easily seen. Square standoffs can also be used to fasten display signs, personnel & office directories, menus, promotional items, photos, mirrors and whiteboards, or simply add a raised top layer / shelf on a table.

Features

  • Square standoffs have a threaded body for connecting easily to components.
  • They are equipped with female threading on both ends to act similarly to threaded spacers. They attach to male threaded fasteners or other components like screws / bolts from both sides.
  • They may be partially threaded to provide a gap between components for necessary airflow, dissipation of heat and electrical isolation.
  • Most models come in pack containing multiple pieces for easy replacement.
  • Some standoffs are designed to minimise vibrations for use in compression or shear load applications.
  • Selected standoffs work in combination with a set screw and standoff cap for holding display signs in place. They provide a decorative finish on walls or desktops.
  • They can be used for sign mounting in two ways, through a hole in the sign or by attaching to the edges of a piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between square standoffs and round spacers?

  • Standoffs are similar to spacers. But, standoffs are threaded in both shaft and hole configurations for fitting male-male, female-female & male-female fittings, unlike spacers that are only available in unthreaded / threaded hole configuration for fitting male threaded components.
  • Spacers can act as female-female standoffs if they have threading. Unthreaded spacers allow the entire bolt to pass through them and cannot be tightened, unlike standoffs.

Can we remove these square standoffs once installed?

Yes, these square standoffs feature threads for easy removal & installation, multiple times.

How to use these square standoffs for mounting signs?

  • Drill small pilot holes into the base material after ensuring that the fastened piece would be straight using a level.
  • Insert the mounting / anchoring screw into the pilot hole through the selected female-female standoff.
  • Tighten the screw to fix the standoff in place.
  • Line up the signage with holes over the standoffs and fasten the set screws & caps over them.
  • Washers can be used over the standoff and under the cap to prevent damage to the sign.
  • Multiple standoffs can be used for fixing the display securely.
