Working Mechanism

  • In case of regular augers, attach the auger head tightly to a suitable extension and cross handle.
  • Position the auger on the soil surface at the desired angle and turn clockwise for about three revolutions or until the cylinder is full.
  • Remove the auger from the hole.
  • Tilt the auger and tap or shake the cross handle against the ground to empty the cylinder contents through the bail.
  • Return the auger head to the hole and repeat the same process until the required depth is reached.
  • Collect the sample.

How long does it take to analyse a soil sample?

The laboratory tests usually take 7 to 10 days to process the soil samples.

How deep soil samples should be taken?

  • Gardens and cultivated crops - 0 to 6 inches.
  • Pastures and lawns - more than 6 inches (removing plant residue).
  • Fruit crops and trees - 2 samples should be taken; one at 0 to 8-inch depths and the other at 8 to 16-inch depths.
