Shaft Collars

Raptor Supplies provides a wide range of shaft collars used for positioning devices on medical equipment and holding shaft components, such as bearings, sprockets and pulleys in place, as well as holding up a flag on flag poles. We offer one- / two-piece clamps, quick clamps and set screw / threaded collars from brands, like Boston Gear, Climax Metal Products, Dayton & Ruland Manufacturing Co. Inc.. The setscrew collars from Boston Gear are designed for applications requiring hygienic cleanliness, thereby ideal for use in the food packaging industry with a maximum operating temperature of 800 deg F. These non-magnetic collars come equipped with a standard hollow point setscrew to allow easy inspection of locked parts.
Climax Metal Products manufactures a wide variety of shaft collars compatible with imperial shaft sizes between 1/16 and 6 inches and metric shaft sizes from 2 mm to 80 mm. These shaft collars are made from mild steel / type 303 / 316 stainless steel for maximum shock resistance and are available in non-plated, black oxide and zinc-plated finish options.

Features

Ruland Shaft Collars

  • They have face-to-bore perpendicularity for precise control, ensuring tight tolerances on bearing locknuts for positive alignment.
  • These shaft mounting collars are stamped with bore sizes for easy identification, facilitating quick selection.
  • Selected models feature double-tapped threads with burr-free finish for enhanced performance and longevity.

Stafford Mfg Solution Hinge Type Wrenching Collars

  • They feature black oxide finish for corrosion resistance.
  • Their Grade 1215 steel construction ensures durability and high strength.
  • These hinge-type shaft collars have alloy screws for improved stability of shaft collars and resistance to wear.
  • They have a low-profile design for space-efficient installation in tight spaces.

Climax Metal C Series Shaft Collars

  • They feature stainless steel construction for structural rigidity and corrosion resistance.
  • These hinge collars have an operating temperature ranging from -40 degrees to 800 degrees F.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the factors to consider when selecting the right shaft collar for my application?

  • Choose between set screw, clamp style and other variations based on the application requirements.
  • Select a material that offers the necessary strength, corrosion resistance and durability for the application.
  • Opt for coatings or finishes that protect against wear, corrosion or friction.
  • Ensure the collar's bore size matches the shaft diameter for proper fit and alignment.
  • Look for collars that maintain concentricity to prevent wobbling or misalignment.
  • Evaluate the collar's ability to securely hold the shaft under the expected loads and operating conditions.
  • Consider factors such as temperature, moisture and exposure to chemicals or contaminants.

How do shaft mounting collars differ from clamp-style collars?

  • Set screw collars use a recessed screw to secure onto the shaft material for holding power, which may cause marring on the shaft surface.
  • Whereas, clamp-style collars employ compressive forces to lock onto the shaft without causing any damage.
  • Clamp-style collars offer the advantages of easy removal, indefinite adjustability and compatibility with virtually any shaft without the risk of damage.
