Self Locking Inserts

Self-locking inserts are suitable for locking threaded fasteners inside a tapped hole in automobile, aerospace and maintenance applications. Raptor Supplies offers these thread-locking inserts from E-Z Lok. They lock the threads of the fastener and prevent their loosening due to vibration.

Features

  • E-Z LOK self-locking inserts create strong internal threading on metallic surfaces.
  • They are equipped with a pre-applied Loctite adhesive that activates after installation to offer a strong connection to the material & fastener while preventing wear or over-torque.
  • These inserts come with standard UNC / UNF / Metric threading on their external & internal surfaces for use with the respective drill / tap / fastener.
  • The external thread adhesive secures these inserts in the material's tapped hole.
  • The adhesive on the internal thread keeps the fasteners from backing out by locking them.
  • After fully curing the adhesive, these inserts can seal against liquid / gas pressure up to 6000 psi.
  • Users can also drive these inserts with right direction threads & a slotted drive using a slotted screwdriver instead of an installation bit.

How to install a self-locking insert?

  • Drill a hole according to the insert length & diameter using a standard drill.
  • Tap the drilled hole using a standard tap of the desired thread size.
  • Wind the insert into the hole like an ordinary fastener using a screwdriver, bolt & jam nut or an optional E-Z LOK drive tool.
  • 5 minutes after the threaded insert is placed in the hole, the pre-applied Loctite adhesive on the external threads starts setting for installing the fastener in minutes. After fully curing (72 hours), they can seal against liquids or gases having pressure up to 6000 psi.

Can we reuse these inserts once removed?

The external thread adhesive of these inserts starts setting after installation. Users can install a bolt inside it only if they do not want to remove it in future. Removing the bolt from the insert & the insert from the material after installation may destroy the adhesive & hence the insert's effectiveness. So, users can not reuse these inserts once removed from the application surface.
