Round standoffs generally have a threaded body for connecting easily to components.
Most standoffs come with female threading on both ends to act similarly to threaded spacers and attach to male threaded fasteners or components like screws / bolts from both sides.
Male standoffs or male-male standoffs have two threaded protrusions on their ends for screwing into a hole.
Male-female standoffs can use their male threaded end to screw into a holed component and their female threaded end to accept fasteners like screws / bolts.
These standoffs can be partially threaded to provide a gap between components for necessary airflow, dissipation of heat and electrical isolation.
Selected models CS Johnson 60-614 have angled construction for connecting parts that are at different angles or in different planes to each other.
Micro Plastics round standoffs have nylon construction and come in packs of multiple pieces for easy replacement.
