Oil Skimmer

Abanaki oil skimmers are used to remove floating oil from a liquid surface in waste-water treatment facilities, food-processing operations and steel mills. These units feature a compact design with a unique wiping system which fits into almost any tank or pit and a safety shut-off switch for preventing overheating conditions. They also prevent plugging of spray heads and filters and allow the skimmed oil to be recycled and reused as a lubricant or fuel. Choose from a wide range of these oil skimmers available in carbon steel, polymer and steel construction variants, with a oil removal rate ranging from 1 gph to 200 gph, on Raptor Supplies, an authorised Abanaki distrtibutor.

Features

  • Abanaki oil skimmers use various technologies to collect oil from the surface of the water.
  • Belt-type oil skimmers use a continuous belt that passes through the water to collect oil.
  • Disk-type Abanaki oil skimmers use a rotating disk to collect oil. The disk is mounted on the unit's shaft and is submerged in the water. As it rotates, the oil sticks to the disk's surface.
  • Tube skimmers use a tube coated with an oleophilic material (attracts oil). As the tube passes through the water, it collects oil on its surface.

Working Mechanism

  • Abanaki oil skimmers are powered through a grounded outlet that starts the motor to rotate the belt / disc / tube.
  • The oil gets attracted on the belt, tube or disc and sticks to it.
  • The oil is removed from the belt, tube or disc by a wiper or rollers in the units and discharged through a hose or trough for collecting skimmed oil.
  • The trash, debris and other contaminants should be removed before operating the oil skimmers.
  • Oil removal rate depends on the nature of oil and skimming material used. The efficiency of these skimmers may decrease due to the presence of surfactants or turbulent flow of liquid.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of oil can be removed using Abanaki oil skimmers?

Oil skimmers are effective for removing petroleum-based oils, animal fats and vegetable oils. Some oil skimmers may be more effective in removing a particular type of oil, so users should select the right skimmer for the application.
