These demountable machine components are used to transfer torque from a shaft to the component.
Key stocks prevent movement between the shaft & the component and allow force to be released without stressing or wearing out the machine.
They are constructed of steel or stainless steel and plated with zinc for resistance to wear and oxidation.
The key material should have similar strength and hardness as the shaft to avoid failure.
