Forged Eye Nuts

Eye nuts are fasteners used to receive a hook or rope. They allow permanent mounting of industrial machines & equipment for rigging, lifting or lashing. Raptor Supplies offers a wide range of eye nuts from brands like Ken Forging, Chicago Hardware, Grainger, Crosby and Woodhead.

Features

  • Eye nuts are fasteners with a looped head.
  • They can be used as an anchor point for assisting with lifting operations that can not be carried out by hand.
  • Superstrut E120A Series eye nuts feature GoldGalv finish to produce a non-porous barrier, thereby protecting surfaces of eye nuts.
  • Crosby eye nuts are capable of lifting loads ranging from 520 to 40000 lb.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between rated and unrated eye nuts?

  • Load-rated eye nuts are ideal for vertical lifting and should not be used for angular lifting.
  • Unrated eye nuts are not recommended for lifting, and should be used with tie-downs or guiding wires.

How are eye nuts made?

  • Eye nuts are either made by forging or bending.
  • Forged eye nuts are pressed or hammered until their grain structure changes to provide a strong & durable eye nut capable of withstanding external forces.
  • Bent eye nuts are made by bending a piece of steel rod manually into the shape of an eye.

What points should be taken care of while using eye nuts?

  • Eye nuts must be fully screwed into the load such that they fit properly against the load.
  • These nuts should be free from gouges, nicks and cracks.
  • The thread should be clean and undamaged.
  • Lifting points should not be distorted or unduly worn.
  • Never repair, reshape or modify an eye nut by welding, heating, machining or bending.
