Features

  • Dayton air-operated diaphragm pumps are self-priming, portable and intrinsically safe equipment as they do not overheat even under varying flow rates.
  • They can also be operated under submerged conditions by routing the discharge line above the liquid level.
  • These pumps' discharge pressure can not exceed the air inlet pressure. So, even if the discharge line is closed, the pump simply slows or shuts down without any overheating or pressure relief.
  • They are made of acetal, aluminium, Kynar (R), cast iron, polypropylene, and stainless steel for resisting wear & dampening vibrations.
  • Spring assisted air valves in these pumps do not need lubrication to discharge the pipe contents.
  • They have NPT, flange & Tri-Clamp connections to securely seal them during transportation of liquids while reducing the risk of contamination.
  • These diaphragm pumps have Buna N, Hytrel, PTFE or Santoprene (R) diaphragm for handling different pressure & temperature ratings.
  • Raptor Supplies also offers pump repair kits for Dayton diaphragm pumps having Buna N diaphragm.

Dayton Double Diaphragm Pumps

  • These air operated double diaphragm (AODD) pumps have cast iron construction for structural rigidity and wear resistance.
  • They are equipped with spring assisted air valves that do not require lubrication for rapid discharge of the media present in pipelines.
  • These air operated diaphragm pumps can run dry and have the capability to pump solvents, slurries & high viscosity liquids such as waste oils & paints.
  • They feature NPT, flange and tri-clamp connections for secure seals and transportation of liquids with minimal risk of contamination.

Sandpiper Double Diaphragm Pumps

  • These AODD pumps act along the entire surface of the diaphragm, keeping it balanced while pumping, which substantially extends pump life as compared to that of mechanically operated diaphragm pumps.
  • They come with a flooded suction feature that allows outdoor mounting and pumping of viscous fluids.
  • These air operated diaphragm pumps offer flow rates of 4, 42, 106 and 135 GPM for dispensing fluids.
  • They provide a screened inlet option for making the filtration process efficient when the pumps are submerged under water, where sediments and debris are very common.

ARO Double Diaphragm Pumps

  • They are ATEX-certified diaphragm pumps for medium-viscosity fluids used in chemical processing industries and water / wastewater treatment plants.
  • These ARO pumps feature an unbalanced valve design that eliminates the occurrence of valve centring and pump stall-out even when the inlet pressure is very low.

Working Mechanism

  • First, make sure that all the pipings are properly connected and the bolts / fasteners are properly tightened. Close the air valve, regulator valve and drain valve while keeping the suction valve open.
  • Start Dayton diaphragm pump unit and regulate the air valve to adjust the air pressure within the required range.
  • Open the discharge flow valve and verify the fluid flow through the discharge.
  • Open the air valve fully.

Frequently Asked Questions

What factors can cause a decrease in diaphragm life in these Dayton diaphragm pumps?

  • Excessive heat or pressure
  • Over / Under-torque of diaphragm
  • Chemical attack
  • Abrasion
  • Dry running for a long time

What are the troubleshooting tips for Dayton air-operated diaphragm pumps?

  • Check for wear or failure on the diaphragm. If any irregularities are found, replace that part.
  • Clean the connections & piping of dirt & debris.
  • Use of abrasive fluids may wear out the outer diaphragm plate & the outer chamber's sealing edge. Users should check whether the metal castings are compatible with the fluid used.
  • Users should also periodically maintain these pumps and quickly repair any issues.
  • If air pockets or cavitation occurs, reassemble the unit and adjust the air inlet configurations.

What are the points to remember before selecting a Dayton diaphragm pump?

  • Users should choose a pump based on the fluid to be pumped. They should also determine whether the selected pump is required to handle abrasive, toxic or explosive fluids and slurries or solids.
  • The selected pump should be able to handle the operating temperatures and be submersible if required.
  • A diaphragm pump should be chosen after calculating the desired flow rate, port size and connection requirements.
